Melissa McNeill, Trainee Solicitor

Melissa is a Trainee Solicitor within our Criminal and Family Departments. She graduated in 2021 from the University of Glasgow, attaining a 2:1 honours LLB and thereafter completed her Diploma in Legal Practice also from the University of Glasgow.

Melissa has a keen interest in Criminal Law, having written her dissertation on domestic abuse and sexual offences.

Melissa has been interested in Litigation throughout her University career, having been elected the Mooting Representative for the University of Glasgow during her third year of studies. She also represented the University during an exchange programme in Mainz, focusing her research on the unusual aspects of Scottish Criminal Law and Scotland’s interpretation of the United Nations of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Melissa enjoys a high level of responsibility as a trainee solicitor and has been awarded her own clients and cases under the supervision of the team. This has enabled Melissa to develop her communication and time management skills. The most rewarding part of Melissa’s role is helping and supporting clients. She strives to achieve the best result for her clients and enjoys building a positive professional relationship. Melissa enjoys the challenges of her traineeship and looks forward to continuing her legal career at Neil Kilcoyne Solicitors and all it has in store.

Melissa has assisted in a High Court attempted murder Trial that resulted in an Admonishment for the client.

Melissa also regularly assists in Children’s Panels in the Glasgow jurisdiction, representing our client’s interests and right to family life. 

Melissa enjoys socialising with friends and family in her spare time. She enjoys yoga and watching movies.
